Landing Site Postleite and Clubhouse

Our landing site Postleite, with its clubhouse, is located at the foot of the Zettersfeld mountain at an altitude of 670 meters, approximately 700 meters southeast of the Zettersfeld cable car station. The site can be reached from the launch sites at Zettersfeld and Hochstein. The position of the actual landing area changes each year depending on the land use (arable land or grassland). Please land only on the grassland.

The high-voltage power line running south of the landing area looks intimidating, however, there are almost never any winds blowing towards this line on our site. The prevailing wind direction in good flying weather is east to southwest, but the strong valley wind from the southeast in summer (more information here) should be taken into account during the approach. This wind creates a lee area behind the hut and an offset updraft above it. Avoid flying too close to the slope in strong valley winds, as the vegetation there can cause lee turbulences. There are only a few parking spaces next to the clubhouse. Please do not park on the dirt road, but only on the paved road. Do not obstruct the large sliding gates of the clubhouse under any circumstances! There is ample parking at the cable car station; the walk between the clubhouse and the cable car station takes 10 to 15 minutes. For those arriving by public transport, there is an hourly bus connection between the Lienz railway station and the cable car station.

Guests are always welcome at the clubhouse, where they can exchange experiences, discuss current conditions, and enjoy a post-flight beer. Drinks are available from the vending machine next to the entrance.

We do not charge a landing fee, but we appreciate donations (box next to the clubhouse door) and the purchase of drinks.

Please keep our grounds clean and use the waste containers as labeled. We do not have a year-round water supply, so all cleaning is very time-consuming for us.
